May Recap

Back in May it was starting to look and feel more like Spring so we made the most of it and headed to the mountains as well as our favorite camping spot. May in Switzerland is full of holidays, which means long weekends and of course Miles' Birthday.

The Hexen house
We discovered an awesome themed trail in the mountains called the Hexenweg (Witch Trail). It starts with old rickety door that opens into a spooky forest and along the path you encounter things like large spiders in the trees, a clothes line with little clothes hung up, a zipline, and even a witch's house. It ends in yet another incredible Swiss playground.  It was adorable and the kids loved it.  It was one of the first trails that Miles not only hiked on his own but also did his business in the woods (proud mama).

We had an awesome birthday party for Miles in the middle of the month and were blessed with incredible weather and venue.  See blog post here Miles 3rd Bday.

Camping spot
We also headed down to our favorite camping spot in Locarno, the Italian part of Switzerland and met an American family from all places - Daytona Beach, stationed at Vilseck.  The mom came over with a cup of coffee the last morning and I almost cried as I could smell the flavored creamer.  She sent me home with some as well as a box of graham crackers. It's the little things we miss.

We enjoyed lots of outdoor activities in May including playdates, a fun vela course at Holcim, eating lunch and an occasional dinner in the garden.  Ah spring.  We love this time of year.
